Kolkata Durga Puja Models Outfit: Navratri 2024 concluded on Friday and the entire India is getting emotional to bid farewell to Goddess Durga. Every year, devotees await eagerly for Navratri to worship Goddess Durga wholeheartedly. West Bengal's capital Kolkata is one of the centers where people from all around India go to witness the Durga Puja and the grand Pandals that the organisers build. Recently, three models from Kolkata sparked outrage on social media after they visited Durga Puja Pandal in ultra-western outfits. Many users on social media slammed the Kolkata Models and called them out for wearing 'vulgar clothes' that too in a place of worship. Kolkata Durga Puja Model Clothes controversy is intensifying on social media. Now, the question arises who are the models in the center of the Kolkata Dura Puja controversy?
Who are the models?
The models have been identified as Hemoshree Bhadra and Sannati Mitra. Hemoshree Bhadra and Sannati Mitra went for Pandal hopping in Kolkata with a friend. Hemoshree Bhadra and Sannati Mitra are both former Miss Kolkata winners. In the viral pictures, one model wore a fitting black gown, while another donned a short orange dress with high boots. The third individual opted for a red blouse paired with black pants. Sannati described their looks as ‘rebellious’ in her Instagram post, but social media users disagreed and expressed their disappointment. People argued that their clothes were not suitable for a religious celebration.
Sannati Mitra's Instagram account is filled with angry comments. Sharing the controversial pic, Sannati Mitra on Instagram wrote, "It was so Rebellious ,we never thought it was possible, being a girl we always knew our body is “BAD” but life is like that it gives new examples and experiences."
On the other hand, Hemoshree Bhadra shared a clarification video on her Instagram account. Hemoshree Bhadra in the video said, "Our picture is getting viral and it is also in controversy. I want to talk about it. Many people are asking whether there was a dress code there. I wanna say that we are not an invisible entity. If there would have been any dress code, then we could not have entered. So, there was no dress code. We did not fly there. The second thing is it is not our responsibility to make sure everyone's emotions don't get hurt. In that pandal, there were already many half-naked statues of women present. Even in our ancient temples, such statues are present. But that is a work of art. It means you will decide what is objectification and what is work of art."
Talking about who is Sannati Mitra, she is Miss Kolkata 2017. Sannati Mitra's Instagram bio says that she is an influencer and a YouTuber. Sannati Mitra's Instagram account has 1.6 million followers. On the other hand, Hemoshree Bhadra is Miss Kolkata 2016 and she describes herself as a Writer, Model, and YouTuber. Hemoshree Bhadra's Instagram account has 885K followers.
