From LPG cylinders to credit cards: 6 big rules implemented from 1 December

Some new rules have been announced by the authorities that will be implemented from 1st December and will impact the public financially.

Authorities have introduced few new rules that will be implemented from the first day of the last month of the year that is 1st December. These new rules will impact the finances of the citizens of the country.

These new rules include changes in the LPG gas cylinder prices to the credit card of the country's largest bank SBI (SBI Credit Card Rule). 

Here’s the list of changes implemented from 1st December:

1. Commercial cylinder is expensive:

From 1st December, the 19 kg commercial cylinder has become costlier by Rs 16.50. In Delhi, its price has increased by Rs 16.50 to Rs 1818.50. Previously, it was available for Rs 1802. In Kolkata, it is available for Rs 1927, with an increase of Rs 15.5 as earlier the price was Rs 1911.50.

In Mumbai, the price has increased by Rs 16.50 from Rs 1754.50 to Rs 1771. In Chennai, the cylinder is available at Rs 1980.50. However, there is no change in the price of 14.2 KG domestic gas cylinder. It is available for Rs 803 in Delhi and Rs 802.50 in Mumbai.

2. Free Aadhaar update:

Aadhaar cardholders can update their details (name, address or date of birth) online for free through the myAadhaar portal till 14th December 2024. Following this, the charges will apply. Till now the charge for offline update at Aadhaar centres in Rs 50 and through online portal is free of cost. 

3. Change in SBI credit card rules:

State Bank of India (SBI) has also changed the rules related to its credit card. According to the SBI Card website, from 1st December 2024, if you use SBI credit card exclusively for transactions related to digital gaming platforms / merchants, then credit cards will no longer get reward points on transactions related to digital gaming platforms / merchants.

4. Message traceability rules implemented:

TRAI has decided to implement new traceability rules related to commercial messages and OTP. Previously, telecom companies had to implement it by 31st October, but after the demand of multiple companies, the deadline was extended to 31st November. The telecom companies will implement this rule of TRAI from 1st December.

The aim of this new rule is that all messages sent by telecom companies will be traceable, in order to stop the cases of phishing and spam. Due to the new rules, customers may face delay in getting OTPs.

5. ATF becomes costlier: 

Oil marketing companies have increased the prices of Air Traffic Fuel (ATF). This can make air travel expensive. According to the website of Indian Oil, ATF in Delhi has become costlier by Rs 1318.12 and has reached Rs 91, 856.84 per kilolitre (1000 litres). At the same time, ATF in Kolkata has become costlier by Rs 1, 158.84 and has reached Rs 94, 551.63 per kilolitre.

In Mumbai, ATF was available at Rs 84, 642.91 per kilolitre, now it will be costlier by Rs 1, 218.11 and will be available at Rs 85, 861.02 per kilolitre. In Chennai, ATF prices have increased by Rs 1, 274.39. It is now available at Rs 95, 231.49 per kilolitre

6. Visiting Maldives is getting expensive:

Visiting Maldives will be expensive from 1st December. The departure fee for tourists has increased. According to the order issued by the Maldives government, economy class fee has increased from 30 dollars (Rs 2,532) to 50 dollars (Rs 4,220).

For the business class, fee has increased from 60 dollars (Rs 5,064) to 120 dollars (Rs 10,129) and for First class, fee has increased from 90 dollars (Rs 7,597) to 240 dollars (Rs 20,257). If someone reaches Maldives by private jet, he/she will now have to pay 480 dollars (Rs 40,515) instead of 120 dollars (Rs 10,129).
