Maha Kumbh 2025: Bollywood actress Mamata Kulkarni takes sanyaas & joins Kinnar Akhara

Popular Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni has now become a sadhvi (saint) as she officially took a sanyaas. She has reached Maha Kumbh Mela. She met Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Dr Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi at Kinnar Akhara. 

Actress Mamta Kulkarni was also seen wearing a Rudraksh garland around her neck and was seen carrying a saffron bag on her shoulder. A video of the actress wearing saffron-coloured outfit, just like a Hindu monk has also gone viral on the social media.

As per India TV, on Friday, Mahamandaleshwar Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi went to All India Akhara President Ravindra Puri along with Mamta Kulkarni. During the meeting, former actress Mamta presented her views on religion.

Following the meeting, she said, “Coming to Maha Kumbh and seeing it is a very memorable moment for me. It will be my good fortune that I am also witnessing this sacred time of Maha Kumbh.”

Mamta Kulkarni is an Indian former actress and model known for her work in Hindi cinema. She had appeared in multiple commercially successful Hindi films such as Waqt Hamara Hai, Krantiveer, Karan Arjun, Sabse Bada Khiladi, Andolan, China Gate and Chhupa Rustam: A Musical Thriller. She had also won 1994 Filmfare Award for Lux New Face of the Year.

Maha Kumbh 2025 began on 13th January 2025, in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The first bath started at 4 AM on Paush Purnima. According to reports, a total of 1 crore 65 lakh devotees took a dip on the first day at 44 ghats. Additionally, flowers were showered on the devotees from helicopters. 

This Maha Kumbh 2025 is taking place in a rare astronomical coincidence that has occurred after 144 years. This is the same coincidence that was made during the Samudra Manthan. It is celebrated approximately every 12 years, for each revolution of Jupiter planet. It attracts the largest recorded public gatherings of Hindus.
