The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 took an emotional turn for a Jharkhand family when they found their missing member after 27 years. The lost member, Gangasagar Yadav, who went missing from Patna in 1998, has now appeared at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj disguised as a monk named Baba Rajkumar.

The Jharkhand family claims that they recognised Gangasagar, however, the man denied it and called himself a monk from Varanasi. Following this, the family decided to get a DNA test done in this case to bring out the truth.

Gangasagar Yadav had suddenly went missing after moving to Patna in 1998. His family, especially his wife Dhanwa Devi and two younger sons Kamlesh and Vimlesh, were struggling to cope with life without him.

Recently, a relative of the family spotted a monk at the Maha Kumbh Mela who looked like Gangasagar Yadav. Following this, he clicked a picture of the monk and sent it to the family. Seeing the picture, the family members recognized Gangasagar and reached the Kumbh Mela.

When the family identified Baba Rajkumar as Gangasagar Yadav, he completely denied this claim. He described himself as a monk from Varanasi and said that he has no connection with Gangasagar Yadav. Another monk present with him also supported his statement.

However, the family claimed that they made no mistake in identifying the lost member. They said that the monk has some special marks on his body such as long teeth, an injury mark on the forehead and an old wound on the knee, which Gangasagar Yadav had before he went missing. All these marks made the family believe that he is the same person.

The family has sought help from the police and demanded a DNA test to investigate the matter. Gangasagar's younger brother Murali Yadav said, “We all will wait till the Kumbh Mela gets over. If we need to get a DNA test done to prove it, we will do that. If our claim is proved wrong in the investigation then we will apologise to Baba Rajkumar.”

Gangasagar Yadav's family was devastated after his disappearance. Now, some of the family members are still keeping an eye on Baba Rajkumar at the Kumbh Mela, while some have returned home. They are waiting for the DNA test results.
