Soon the Jalandharites will be able to enjoy modern and hygienic street food at one place with administration has started the process for identifying a suitable location for establishing a Modern Food Street Hub.
Presiding over a meeting, Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal on Friday directed the Municipal Corporation Jalandhar (MCJ) to send a detailed report regarding the location and other mandatory facilities for the Food Street hub.
He said that food streets would be developed in a clean, ventilated, non-polluted area which is recognized as an authorized vending zone/area by the MCJ.
He said that the area would have access to the common facilities like clean water, parking, lighting, sanitation and waste disposal system. He said that the street food vendors would be trained by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
Sarangal said that every street food vendor, helper or food handler would undergo basic food hygiene training besides they will also be given assistance regarding in availing licensing and registration from FSSAI.
Joint Commissioner Puneet Sharma said that a team of officials had already been constituted in this regard to identify a suitable location for the food street hub and a report will be prepared in this regard.
