Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to meet United States President Donald Trump in Washington on 13th February. This will be PM Narendra Modi’s first bilateral visit to the United States after Donald Trump got elected US President for the second time.
The meeting between the two leaders is expected to focus on strengthening India-US strategic relations, especially in areas such as trade, defence and energy cooperation.
Officials had announced PM Modi's visit to the US on Monday, though the exact timing of the meeting is yet to be confirmed.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal has confirmed that the main objective of PM Modi's visit and meeting with Donald Trump is to strengthen the global strategic partnership between India and the US.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced about this high-profile meeting and said, “This will be the first visit of Prime Minister Modi to the United States since the inauguration of the second presidential term of President Donald Trump.”
“The fact that the Prime Minister has been invited to visit the US within barely three weeks of the new administration taking office shows the importance of the India-US partnership and is also reflective of the bipartisan support this partnership enjoys in the US,” he added.
When and where will the meeting take place?
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump are going to meet on 13th February at White House in Washington, D.C. PM Modi will arrive in the US on 12th February. However, the meeting time is not confirmed yet.
Previously, PM Modi had visited the US in June 2017 and Donald Trump had visited India in February 2020. Apart from this, recently, PM Modi & Donald Trump had spoken twice on the phone on 6th November 2024 and 27th January 2025.
