Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday addressed a rally in Hoshaipur, Punjab, and sought votes from the Ravidas Community. During his Hoshairpur Rally, PM Modi paid homage to the sacred land of Guru Ravidas Ji and emphasized his government's commitment to development and heritage preservation. Prime Minister Modi compared Punjab's Hoshiarpur to small Kashi and called it the sacred land of Guru Ravidas Ji. Notably, PM Modi ended his Lok Sabha Elections 2024 campaign with the Hoshairpur rally and connected the spiritual significance of Hoshairpur with Varanasi, the birthplace of Guru Ravidas Ji. However, what raised everyone's eyebrows was when PM Modi expressed his desire to rename Adampur Airport near Jalandhar on the name of Guru Ravidas Ji. Not only this, PM Modi shared how Guru Ravidas Ji's birthplace is also developing under his leadership.
"Hoshiarpur is called the small Kashi. This is the sacred land of Guru Ravidas Ji. Ending the election campaign here is nothing short of a blessing..Today the country has new aspirations, new hopes, new confidence. After decades, a majority central government is going to score a hat-trick..When people from Punjab and other states go abroad, they see for themselves how much respect for India and Indians has increased..Guru Ravidas Ji used to say, ‘I desire such a rule, where everyone has food.’ In the past 10 years, we have provided free grain and free treatment facilities to the poorest of the poor."
PM Modi highlighted his government's initiatives to honor the heritage of Guru Ravidas Ji. “In Madhya Pradesh, I laid the foundation stone of a grand memorial to Guru Ravidas Ji. Facilities are being increased at Guru Ravidas Ji's birthplace in Kashi. Even in Delhi, there is a holy place of Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj in Tughlakabad,” he announced. He also expressed his desire to name the Adampur airport after Guru Ravidas Ji, promising swift action once the government is formed.
Is Sushil Rinku's promise turning into reality?
Interestingly, when Sushil Rinku was the MP of Jalandhar, he initiated proceedings to rename the Adampur Airport. Notably, it was due to Rinku's frequent approach to the Centre that the Adampur Airport was renovated and multiple flight services started.
In February, Rinku raised the demand for naming the Adampur Civil Airport after Guru Ravidas as a resolution in this regard has already been passed by the Punjab Legislative Assembly. He stated that this move would honour the sentiments of millions of people, especially followers of Guru Ravidas across the country.
Not only this, but Sushil Rinku had also met Union Railway Minister Vishnaw for Vande Bharat's stoppage in Jalandhar. The Railway Ministry then agreed to his demands and gave Jalandhar its first Vande Bharat Train. Notably, Sushil Rinku has now joined the BJP and the saffron party is banking big on him to win the Jalandhar seat in Lok Sabha Elections 2024.
