Punjab will have more connectivity from many different regions of the nation. Recently, certain airlines have come to the authorities of Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, Chandigarh, to request slots to launch flights from Chandigarh to three different Indian cities.
The official statement stated that several airlines have shown interest in the nine slots for schedules booked for the summer season.
The allocation of the requested slots will begin by March 30.
It is to be noted that the authorities have asked to commence the requested flights as soon as possible. This order was made after several flights were not launched despite the slots booked during the winter schedule.
Slots booked for summer schedule -
According to the reports, the authorities of Akasa Airlines have asked for new domestic flights between Chandigarh and Srinagar, Ahmedabad and Mumbai. Along with this, new flight slots have also been requested for flights between Noida Hisar and Chandigarh for the summer schedule.
The official update has outlined that some of the paperwork may take time, but the slots will surely be allocated before March 30.
IndiGo Airlines offers a new flight between Chandigarh and Dharamshala
IndiGo Airlines has recently offered direct flights between Chandigarh and Dharamshala under the summer schedule. This new flight will allow travelers to travel between both cities in just 1 hour and 15 minutes. The airlines have introduced a 72-seater aircraft for this new slot.
This will be the third flight covering the Chandigarh-Dharamshala route, following two already existing flights.
According to the update shared by the airlines, the one-way flight fare will start at ₹2,500. The flight services will start on March 31.
The schedule -
Departure from Dharamshala - 12 pm, landing at Chandigarh airport at 1 pm.
Departure from Chandigarh - 1:30 pm, landing at Dharamshala airport at 2:35 pm.
Airlines that failed to launch during the winter schedule
For the winter schedule, as many as five airlines allotted flights for around 11 new slots, connecting Chandigarh to different states nationwide. However, even after more than a month, none of the flights have been initiated.
Following this, the airport authorities have asked for explanations from all the airlines.
