At one end a political controversy has erupted between LoP Bajwa and Punjab Government over repeated grenade attacks in the state, on another a new twist has come up in Manoranjan Kalia's case. On April 7 night, a grenade attack was carried out at BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia's house in Jalandhar following which Punjab Police have arrested three accused. Punjab Police in their statement revealed that the grenade attack was orchestrated by Lawrence Bishnoi-linked gangster Zeeshan Akhtar along with Pakistani Gangster Shahzad Bhatti. The Police had also highlighted that the grenade attacks are being carried out in Punjab with the help of Pakistani secret service ISI.
However, on Monday, a major twist erupted when the Lawrence Bishnoi group distanced itself from the grenade attack case on Manoranjan Kalia's house. In an unverified Facebook post, Lawrence Bishnoi not only distanced itself from the grenade attack but also stated that it has no links with Zeeshan Akhtar and Pakistani Don Shahzad Bhatti.
The gang stated that they have no links to Zeeshan Akhtar, Shahzad Bhatti, or Happy Pasia, and labeled them 'enemies of the nation'. The social media post further warned that the accused were extorting money using the Lawrence Bishnoi gang's name and declared that they would eliminate them. “They are misusing our name for personal gain. We don’t know them and have no connection. No one from our gang should communicate with them,” the statement read.
What was worth eyebrow-raising is that the viral social media post, Lawrence Bishnoi declared an open war against Zeeshan and Pakistani don Shahzad Bhatti. The post stated that they promised that they would kill both Zeeshan and Shahzad Bhatti as they are 'enemies of the nation'.
