Police seize 100 boxes of smuggled liquor from Chandigarh ahead of MC Elections

The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police, led by Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma, intercepted a major illegal liquor consignment imported from Chandigarh. Divulging the details, Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma said that acting on a credible tip-off during routine patrols, the team from Police Station Basti Bawa Khel registered FIR No. 204 on December 17 under the Excise Act and conducted a successful raid.

The CP further said that the operation resulted in the recovery of 100 boxes of illicit liquor, including 95 boxes labeled "London Pride" and 5 boxes of "Imperial Style Blended Whiskey," both marked for sale exclusively in Chandigarh. However, the prime accused, Sanjeev Kumar alias Sanju of New Gautam Nagar and Dr. Jasbir Singh Anand of Jalandhar are still at large.

Mr. Sharma stressed the strict action against illegal liquor smuggling in future also besides emphasized ongoing efforts to apprehend the accused. "We are committed to curbing illegal activities and ensuring law and order," he stated.

The operation highlights the Jalandhar Police’s proactive approach to combating illegal liquor smuggling. Besides, a dedicated search operation is underway to locate the accused and further investigations are ongoing.
