Pulse Storyline in brief
Pulse is based on an original story that revolves around the personal and professional life of Maguire Medical Center Doctors with main focus on Dr. Danny Simms and Dr. Xander Philips. The series starts with Dr. Danny Simms getting promoted to the position of Chief Resident of Maguire Hospital in Miami in place of Xander Philips. Notably, Dr. Simms has reported sexual harassment against Dr. Philips and hence he has been suspended. With Hurricane Abbey engulfing Miami, the flow of patients coming to Maguire Medical Center has increased drastically. However, she displays her strong character and somehow manages to keep the workflow smooth and treat patients coming to the hospital.
As the name suggests whenever there is a heartbeat in the background music or let's say pulse increases, the series goes into a flashback showing the secret romantic relationship between Chief Resident Dr. Xander Philips and Dr. Simms, a third-year resident at Maguire Medical Center.
One of the reasons why Dr. Simms reported Dr. Phillips of Sexual Harassment is because they had a fight and she heard that Xander did similar to many other doctors in the past including at Kennedy. Hence, he has been transferred to Miami. However, it is not the truth.
What did Xander Phillips do at Kennedy in Netflix’s Pulse? (Spoilers Ahead)
Dr. Xander Phillips had accidentally killed a patient at the Kennedy Hospital during treatment. In a flashback, his colleague warned him that Dr. Broussard was reprimanding doctors who were taking too long with discharges. As Broussard pressured Xander to hurry up, he advised his patient, Julio, and Julio’s mother that the fluid related to his liver problem needed to be removed at the GI clinic.
While the procedure was initially scheduled for the following week, Xander decided to move things along quickly due to Julio’s pain and Dr. Broussard’s warning. He opted to perform a paracentesis on the non-emergent patient. Ultimately, the patient died.
