The Punjab government has declared reserved holidays on the occasion of Shri Fatehgarh Sahib Shaheedi Sabha. According to the announcement, 25th and 26th December have been reserved as holidays for government employees in the state. However, no separate holiday has been announced for schools and colleges as the government has already declared winter vacations from 24th to 31st December, during this period all the educational institutions will remain closed.
As per the government notification, 25th and 26th December will be considered reserved holidays for government employees. It’s worth noting that every government employee is allowed to take two reserved holidays per year. Employees who have not availed of any reserved holiday this year can take leave on these two days.
Previously, this month, on the recommendation of Punjab State Election Commission with regard to General/Bye Elections to Municipal Bodies -2024, Punjab Government had notified 21 December (Saturday) as a public holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 in the revenue jurisdiction of the Municipal Bodies where elections were held.
Additionally, Punjab Government had also declared a special leave on 21st December 2024 to those voters who are working in Punjab Government offices/Boards/Corporations/Educational Institutions. Voters had avail this special leave to cast their vote in the Municipal Bodies Elections by showing their voter card to the competent officer and this special leave was not deducted from their leave account.
