Punjab govt declares holiday on THIS date; schools & offices to remain closed

The Punjab government has declared a public holiday on Wednesday, 12th February all across the state. On this day the Prakash Parv of Shri Guru Ravidas Ji will be celebrated in Punjab. On 12th February, a holiday has been declared in all government schools and non-government educational institutions as well as offices.

Regarding this, a procession will also be taken out in Jalandhar on the 11th February. On this special occasion, the district administration has ordered to keep meat and liquor shops closed on 11th and 12th February.

Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal said that as the Prakash Parv of Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji on 12th February and the procession being taken out by various religious organizations on 11th February in this regard, keeping in mind the religious sentiments of the people and in view of the law and order, using the powers conferred under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code, 2023, the sale of meat and liquor has been banned on 11th and 12th February 2025.

Shri Guru Ravidas Jayanti is the birthday of Shri Guru Ravidas, celebrated on Magh Purnima, the full moon day in the month of Magh month. People across countries celebrate this special occasion in India. Additionally, devotees take a holy dip in the river to perform rites.
