Punjab has been witnessing chilling cold ever since December 2024 has started. Punjab Winters which is infamous for bone-chilling cold is likely to be intensified more in the coming days. The India Meteorological Department of Chandigarh has predicted that multiple districts of Punjab and Haryana will witness thunderstorms including hailstorms in the coming days.
IMD Chandigarh took its X handle and shared a warning predicting that Punjab as well as Haryana will remain under the yellow alert. Furthermore, the weather department predicted that Punjab will witness rainfall on December 27, 2024, i.e. on Friday. As per the shared map by the IMD Chandigarh, places that may witness thunderstorms in Punjab are- Kapurthala, Hoshairpur, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Barnala, Sangrur, Patiala. etc.

Punjab Winter Rainfall
The rainfall prediction in Punjab by the IMD Chandigarh came on the day when Shimla witnessed the season's second snowfall on Monday. Snowfall has started in the high peaks along the Rohtang Pass from Monday morning. Fresh snowfall of up to 10 cm has been recorded in Rohtang. Kullu and Lahaul administration have issued an alert due to the change in weather. At the same time, snowflakes are falling in the capital Shimla as well. Vehicles are also skidding due to snow. There is a wave of happiness among the tourists seeing the snowfall, because tourists reach Himachal with the desire to see snowfall in their mind.
Tourists have been instructed not to go to snowy areas. At the same time, a large number of tourists have turned to Kullu-Manali for Christmas and New Year celebrations. On Sunday also, 11,322 vehicles have crossed Atal Tunnel Rohtang. The snowfall has raised the hope of a White Christmas among tourists and tourism businessmen.
IMD official was quoted saying, "Today there will be light rain and snowfall at many places in the state. Shimla and its surrounding areas will receive light snowfall. On the 27th, there will be snowfall again in the high-altitude areas, and on December 28, due to the effect of Western Disturbance, there will be rain and snowfall at many places. Many places in Himachal will see a drop in temperature by 2 to 3 degrees from tomorrow."
