A truck driver named Harpinder Singh has won Rs 10 crore in the Punjab State Dear Lohri Makar Sankranti Bumper 2025. Results of the lucky draw were declared on Saturday. All the winners were declared at Camp Office in Ludhiana. This is the biggest prize money offered by any lottery in Punjab so far.
As per Times Now, the Directorate of Punjab State Lotteries had printed a total of 16,00,000 tickets for the Punjab State Dear Lohri Makar Sankranti Bumper 2025 draw. The total prize distributed is Rs 23,47,90,000.
The total amount for the first prize is Rs 10,30,00,000. Out of this, the winner will be given Rs 10 crores before taxation. The seller will win Rs 25 lakh and the sub-stockist's prize will be Rs 5 lakhs.
Truck driver Harpinder Singh of Barwa village in Nurpur Bedi had bought the ticket for Rs 500. After winning this huge amount, he said that he cannot believe his luck and it is the blessings of God that he has won such a big amount. He said that every individual should buy a lottery ticket at least once in their life.
Harpinder shared that he has been buying lottery tickets for the past 15 years. Harpinder had faced multiple challenges too. He had raised a loan to fund his travel to Kuwait for work. Apart from this, a few years ago, his son Devinder Singh’s left arm had to be amputated following a tragic accident.
Harpinder has planned to use this huge amount of money to set up a business for his son in order to secure his future. He said that this jackpot will also help him to get a decent medical treatment and lead a normal life. Apart from setting up business, Harpinder has planned to pay off the debt.
Officials of the Punjab State Lotteries Department has informed that 30 per cent of the winning amount will be deducted as tax deducted at source (TDS) apart from miscellaneous income tax.
Vendor Hemant Kakkar will get around Rs 25 lakh, while the sub-stockist will gain Rs 5 lakh. Hemant said that as the prize money is getting bigger every year, more people are getting drawn to lotteries.
