Punjab Weather: Two days of rainfall may bring back chilling winter, coldwave alert in 13 districts

Punjab has been witnessing weird weather for the past few days. While the daytime temperature of most of the cities is crossing 20°C hinting that summers may arrive soon, the night temperature is dropping below 5°C hinting that 'Winter Is Here'. In the meanwhile, Yellow alert has been issued regarding the cold wave in Punjab by the IMD Chandigarh on January 27, 2025. According to the Meteorological Department, there will not be much change in the temperature of the state for the next 48 hours. After that, the temperature may increase by up to 3 degrees.

At the same time, two western disturbances are becoming active within the next one week. After this, reports suggest that there is a possibility of light rain in the state. According to the Meteorological Center, a cold wave warning has been issued in Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga and Bathinda of Punjab.

The effect of cold waves will be more in the morning. The sky is expected to remain clear throughout the day and the maximum temperature may reach around 20 degrees.

Chances of rain from January 30

As per reports, two western disturbances are getting active in Punjab in the coming week. Both will affect the hilly areas of Himachal. The first western disturbance is getting active from January 29. Apart from the mountains, its mild effect can also be seen in the plains. After the activation of this western disturbance, there are chances of rain and drizzle in the plains of Punjab on January 30 and 31. While the second western disturbance is getting active from February 1. Its effect will also be seen the most in the hilly areas.
