North India including Punjab, Haryana, and New Delhi are witnessing rise in temperature. While the summers are yet to peak, people living in such cities are already witnessing the rise in scorching heat in the afternoon. IMD has predicted that New Delhi's maximum temperature will cross the 40°C march by the end of March 2025. Similar temperatures are likely to be witnessed in neighboring states in New Delhi i.e. Haryana and Punjab. However, the question arises whether Punjab will witness a fresh spell of rainfall before the summer season peak in the state or not, especially in March 2025. Below is what you need to know-
Punjab Weather Update
The answer is yes. IMD Chandigarh on Wednesday predicted a fresh spell of rainfall in at least 7 districts of Punjab. The weather department predicted that seven districts of Punjab will witness thunderstorms on March 20, 2025. The districts are- Pathankot, Ferozepur, Moga, Faridkot, Fazilka, Muktsar, and Bathinda. Thereafter, on March 21 and March 22, there is no rainfall prediction in Punjab.
IMD Chandigarh also released the list of minimum and maximum temperatures in multiple districts of Punjab. With 32.6°C, Bathinda was the warmest region of Punjab on March 19, 2025. Apart from Bathinda, Amritsar's maximum temperature was 28.7°C, Ludhiana was 30.2°C, Patiala was 30.2°C, Pathankot was 29.8°C, and Bathinda was 29.4°C.
Talking about IMD's prediction on peak summers, the weather department has issued a heatwave alert. The temperature in Delhi, which is touching 31°C, might rise to 40°C by the end of March.
