The cold weather in Punjab broke the record of the last 50 years as the minimum temperature reached close to two degrees. It is very cold in Punjab and people are afraid to even leave their homes because of the cold. Dense fog has wreaked havoc across the state and the Red weather Alert has been issued by the weather department across Punjab. Orange alert has also been issued by the department for the next two days.
Temperatures are continuously falling which have broken the records of many years. On January 14, the maximum temperature was recorded at 10.8 degrees, which is the second lowest temperature in the last 50 years. Today's minimum temperature was recorded at around 2.4 degree which in itself is indicating of extremely chilling cold.
Dr. Pavneet Kaur, Head of the Department of Meteorology, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), said that the chances of getting any relief in the coming days is unlikely and the fury of cold and dense fog will continue in much the same way.
