In a significant action the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police arrested two robbers, along with heavy cache of arms and ammunition, after they were injured cops during cross firing with the cops. The Police has also arrested their three other accomplices after investigation. 

Giving details, a city resident Shri Shankar had reported that two unknown individuals, armed with a pistol had robbed him and fled after firing shots into the air. He said that based on complaint a FIR No. 147 dated 12-09-2024 u/s 304, 125 BNS, 25-54-59 Arms Act was registered at PS Basti Bawa Khel Jalandhar. Mr Swapan Sharma said that swinging into action the Police started investigation into the matter and during search at Leather Complex Waryana Morh, Police spotted two individuals matching the description provided by the victim. 

The Commissioner of Police said after Police party approached towards them the suspects fired at them after which one bullet struck the windshield of the police vehicle and hit the bulletproof jacket of an officer, while another shot damaged the car's headlight. He said that suspects then escaped into a nearby empty plot under the cover of darkness and despite warnings by Police they continuously fired on them adding that during the crossfire, both suspects were injured. Mr Swapan Sharma said that the police recovered a .32-bore pistol, one cartridge, and one empty shell from Dhruv and from Pawan, a .315-bore desi katta, one cartridge, one empty shell, a motorcycle (PB07-AZ-5721) and ₹11,000 were seized.

The Commissioner of Police said that based on the statement of Gurmohar Singh a FIR No. 96 dated 09-09-2024 u/s 109, 351(2), 324, 3(5), 61(2) BNS, 25/27 Arms Act was also registered at PS Division 4 Jalandhar for giving threats to the complainant. During the investigation it was ascertained that Pawan @ Karan and Dhruv were working on the saying of Gopa, a resident of Canada and had conducted surveillance on Gurmohar Singh's house. Mr Swapan Sharma said that on Gopa's instructions, Jatinder @ Bholu delivered 10 rounds of .32-bore ammunition while Surinder Pal Singh @ Shindi and Satbir @ Sabi supplied .315-bore desi katta and two rounds. 

The Commissioner of Police said that on September 9, 2024 Dhruv and Pawan fired shots at Gurmohar Singh's house, recorded the act on video and sent it to Gopa, for which they received ₹25,000, with an additional ₹25,000 to be sent later by Gopa. He said that Police successfully arrested Surinder Pal Singh, Satbir Singh, and Jatinder Singh and recovered a .32-bore pistol and 10 cartridges. Furthermore, Mr Swapan Sharma said that four additional accused including Gurpal Singh @ Gopa s/o Sewa Singh r/o Village Fiali Jalandhar now in Canada, Damanpreet Singh s/o Village Kabulpur Jalandhar, Paramvir @ Pam r/o Mubarakpur Sheikhe Jalandhar and Shubam alias Shuba r/o USA have been nominated in the case adding that this also include a foreign-based  handler, suspected of facilitating financial transactions for the group.
