Team India on Thursday landed at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi and got a resounding welcome. The arrival of Rohit Sharma & Co. was a sight to behold as hundreds of fans continued to wait for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 champions outside the Delhi Airport. Rohit Sharma was welcomed by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah who gave him flowers at the Delhi Airport. Team India's skipper also cut a special cake that was prepared to honour their victory in Barbados. However, what caught everyone's eyes was 'shy' Rohit Sharma dancing outside a Delhi hotel on Punjabi Bhangra beats.
From the Airport, Team India went straight to hotel ITC Maurya in New Delhi for refreshments where their family were also waiting. After Team India stepped out of their bus, a team of Bhangra Dancers and dhol players welcomed them. Seeing this, Rohit Sharma could not resist himself and forgot his shyness. Team India skipper grooved to the tunes of Bhangra beats along with the dancers. This indeed was a wholesome moment for the Men In Blue and entire Indian Cricket Team fans as 'Hitman' Sharma is not known for expressing his joyful nature by dancing.
Meanwhile, after resting for some time at the hotel, Team India will head to PM's residence where Prime Minister Narendra Modi has organised a reception party for the World Champions. Rohit Sharma & Co will also have breakfast along with PM Modi. The Men In Blue will reach PM Modi's residence in Delhi at 11 am.
What's after meeting PM Modi?
After meeting PM Modi, Team India will head to Mumbai in special flight for victory parade. BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla on Wednesday informed, "A special Air India flight was sent by the BCCI to bring the Indian Team back. In addition, stranded media persons are also being brought back on the same flight. They will reach Delhi tomorrow at 6 am. The Prime Minister has organised a reception for the team at his residence at 11 am. After this, they will leave for Mumbai on a special flight, where a roadshow has been organised in their honour from Nariman Point to Wankhede Stadium. A welcome event has been organised for them at Wankhede Stadium where the Indian Cricket Team, coaches, and support staff will be felicitated and awarded the Rs 125 crore cash prize announced by the BCCI."
