Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan on Tuesday returned to his home after surviving a deadly attack inside his Bandra home. While Saif Ali Khan waved at his fans who were concerned about his safety, new trouble started to mount on the 'Nawab of Bollywood'. The seriousness of the new issue is such that Saif Ali Khan may lose Rs 15,000 crore worth of properties including Pataudi Palace. Saif Ali Khan has ancestral properties in Madhya Pradesh, which the government can soon confiscate. The value of this ancestral property is around Rs 15,000 crore.

Why Saif Ali Khan can lose his property?

Saif Ali Khan has ancestral property of his Pataudi family in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, which is worth around Rs 15,000 crore. The central government can now confiscate this property because the Madhya Pradesh court has lifted the stay order on it. With the removal of this order, the central government can confiscate this property under the Enemy Property Act, of 1968.

Enemy properties are the properties of those people who went to Pakistan after the partition in 1947. The properties of Saif Ali Khan's Pataudi family are also similar properties. Under the Enemy Property Act, the Government of India can claim the properties of those who went to Pakistan after partition. In such a situation, the government can now confiscate this property.

The properties of the Pataudi family are present in Bhopal. These properties are related to the family of actor Saif Ali Khan. The last Nawab of Bhopal was Hamidullah Khan who had three daughters. Of these, the eldest daughter Abida Sultan went to Pakistan in 1950. At the same time, his second daughter Sajida Sultana stayed in India and married Nawab Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi. Sajida Sultana's grandson is Saif Ali Khan. In such a situation, Saif Ali Khan has inherited a part of these properties.  However, Abida Sultan’s migration became the focal point for the government’s claim to the properties as “enemy property.”

Prominent properties under scrutiny include the Flag Staff House, where Saif spent his childhood, Noor-Us-Sabah Palace, Dar-Us-Salam, Bungalow of Habibi, Ahmedabad Palace and Kohefiza Property. The court had been hearing Khan’s challenge since 2015.
