Several petrol Pumps in Amritsar had to be closed due to a lack of petrol tankers from the Jalandhar depot. Several people were seen waiting in long queues in front of the petrol stations. The Pump owners say that this situation has arisen due due to the lack of petrol tankers from Jalandhar depot this morning. Due to the driver’s strike against the recently introduced hit-and-run law, the country is facing a major shortage of fuel in its petrol pumps. This has resulted in panic among the general public who are flocking to Petrol Pumps and buying fuel for reserves.
Amidst the fuel crisis in due to the trucker’s and transporter’s strike, several major cities of Punjab has seen a rise in panic buying of fuel. People are buying more than they need which has led to a severe shortage of fuel in Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala and Bathinda among others. Several of the Petrol Pumps in Amritsar were rushed by panicked drivers looking to fill their containers and tanks with reserve fuel.
The matter is about the strike by the truck drivers in opposition to the law made by the Kedar government for the truck drivers, due to which people are having to struggle a lot to get petrol at the petrol pump in Amritsar. The Pump owners said that this situation has arisen due due to the lack of petrol tankers from Jalandhar depot this morning to which the people are facing a lot of problems. The citizens said that they did not have any information until the night that they would not be able to get petrol in the morning causing them to rush to the pumps.
