Is Sheena Bora dead?
While the CBI maintains that Sheena Bora is dead, Indrani Mukerjea's defense is her daughter is still alive. Former media executive Indrani Mukerjea, who spent more than six years in jail on charges of murdering her daughter Sheena Bora in the Netflix docuseries claimed that the person she is accused of killing is "alive and out there". Indrani's legal team has raised questions and pointed out loopholes in Sheena Bora's autopsy and DNA reports. In the Netflix series, Indrani even hints that Sheena might be living somewhere in Kashmir or someplace like that with another name. Now, the question arises if Sheena is alive then why did she act that she is dead or why did not she appear before the world to prove the innocence of her mother?
The Netflix series and even Indrani have tried to paint the picture that it was due to the former INX media CEO's ignorance. For the unversed, Indrani left Sheena and Mikhail at her ancestral home and then she left for Kolkata first where she married for the second and then to Mumba where she married Peter. Both Sheena and Mikhail were neglected for years by Indrani because she did not want to lose all her influence, name, and wealth which she got while living in Mumbai. Not only this, but when Sheena and Mikhail came to Mumbai then were given directives by Indrani that Sheena would be her younger sister and not her daughter. It was after Sheena Bora's murder, her relationship with Indrani came to the fore.
Indrani in her memoir was quoted saying, "I am now at peace after Sheena was spotted at the Guwahati airport by my friend - Saveena. Being an advocate herself, her quick thinking got us the footage of Sheena from the airport."
Interestingly, a special CBI court in 2023 directed the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to secure the CCTV footage of Guwahati airport and find out the identity of the girl who allegedly looked like Sheena Bora. Special CBI judge SP Naik Nimbalkar asked the airport authority to hand over footage of January 5, between 5.30-6.00 am near the boarding gate of Guwahati airport.
As per reports, Indrani has filed an application before the court along with an affidavit by advocate Savina Bedi Sachar. Sachar in her affidavit said she travelled from Guwahati on January 5 and near the boarding gate, she had seen a woman who looked like Sheena. Sachar has been known to Indrani for nearly two decades and had met Sheena as well.
However, the case is yet to proceed further.
