SHO Inspector Arshpreet Kaur Grewal has been accused of assisting opium smugglers in Moga, Punjab. Arshpreet along with two other police personnel are facing allegations of accepting bribes from drug traffickers.
During the pandemic, she was recognized as a COVID-19 warrior by the former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and was known for her dedication during the deadly pandemic.
After being accused in Drug Trafficking Scandal, Arshpreet Kaur’s reputation has drastically fallen. She and two other police personnel are facing allegations of accepting bribes from drug traffickers.
Arshpreet Kaur Grewal, who had served in various capacities in Ludhiana including SHO at Basti Jodewal and Division No. 2, is alleged to have involved in a deal worth Rs 8 lakh with opium smugglers.
According to the reports, Arshpreet, Munshi Gurpreet Singh and Chowki Incharge Balkhandi had facilitated the release of drug traffickers in exchange for Rs 5 lakh. This case revolves around the arrest of Amarjeet Singh and his brothers, who were found in possessed 5 kilograms of opium.
Punjab police have started a detailed investigation into the matter and all the past records of the accused officers are being thoroughly checked in order to identify any previous misconduct.
Earlier, SHO Arshpreet Kaur was known for her contribution during the COVID-19 pandemic. She was one of Ludhiana’s frontline fighters who actively participated in the pandemic management. Her efforts were acknowledged by Captain Amarinder Singh and she had also got praised her in a widely circulated video call. Her work was highlighted by former Punjab DGP Dinkar Gupta and she had received morale-boosting calls from several celebrities including Punjabi singer Ammy Virk, after she was tested positive for COVID-19.
However, her current involvement in this drug trafficking scandal has ruined her image and left the state in a shock.
