Did you know! Today is Falgun Amavasya. This day is considered as significant as Surya Grahan ( Solar Eclipse). But the question is , Will the Surya Grahan actually occur today ?  Let’s clear up the confusion.

Surya Grahan 2025: Is There A Solar Eclipse Today ?

A lunar eclipse ( Chandra Grahan) occurs on a full moon day, whereas Surya Grahan occurs on an Amavasya, which is a new moon day. However, an eclipse doesn't need to happen on every full moon or new moon. Eclipses aka Grahans, happen under specific astronomical conditions.

Falgun Amavasya falls on February 27, 2025, leading to confusion regarding whether a Surya Grahan will occur on this day or not. In Sanatan Dharma, Amavasya holds great value and significance. Moreover, if Amavasya falls on a Monday, Thursday, or Saturday, it is believed to have an effect equivalent to a Surya Grahan. Since February 27, 2025, falls on a Thursday, its importance is considered to be much greater. But does this mean a Surya Grahan will take place on this day?

Answer to your confusion would be, no, there is no solar eclipse today. The first Surya Grahan of the year will occur on March 29, 2025, on the day of Chaitra Surya Grahan Amavasya.
