Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal on Thursday broke her silence in the shocking assault case that took place at Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's home. Swati Maliwal was manhandled and assaulted by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's PA Baibhav Kumar. AAP leader Sanjay Singh confirmed this during a press conference on Tuesday saying that Swati Maliwal was sitting in the drawing room of Arvind Kejriwal's home to meet the Delhi CM when she was allegedly manhandled by Baibhav Kumar. Sanjay Singh had further stated that Arvind Kejriwal is probing the incident at his own level and will take appropriate actions. As a result, senior Delhi Police officials arrived at Maliwal's residence on Thursday. After staying there for four hours, Delhi Police officials left her house. As per reports, Swati Maliwal has formally given a written complaint to Delhi Police. Following this, Swati took to her X handle and wrote-
"(Translated version) What happened to me was very bad. I have given my statement to the police on the incident that happened to me. I hope that appropriate action will be taken. The last few days have been very difficult for me. I thank those who prayed for me. Those who tried to do character assassination, said that she was doing it on the instructions of the other party, may God keep them happy too. An important election is going on in the country, Swati Maliwal is not important, the issues of the country are important. There is a special request to BJP people to not do politics on this incident."
Arvind Kejriwal evades questions on Swati Maliwal
At a Press conference with Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday, Kejriwal was at a loss to face questions on the issue and quietly shifted the microphone to AAP MP Sanjay Singh. Singh diverted the issue of Swati Maliwal being roughed up by Delhi Police personnel when she went to support the protesting women wrestlers. Singh evaded all questions about his meeting with Maliwal and action needed in the matter.
On Monday, Delhi DCP (North) Manoj Meena said, "We received a PCR call at 9:34 AM wherein the caller said that she has been assaulted inside the CM residence. Accordingly, local police responded to the call, and SHO and the local police reached the spot. After some time, MP Swati Maliwal came to the police station civil lines. She left the police station without giving any complaint. In this matter, no complaint has been received till now."
