A weighing hook fell on the head of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Lok Sabah candidate from Chandigarh, Dr. Ritu Singh yesterday. The Lok Sabha candidate was being weighed with against coins in Daddumajra as per a religious tradition on Monday night. However, while she was being weighed, the rope holding the hook snapped, causing the weighing contraption to fall on Dr. Singh.
From the video, it appears that the Dr. Ritu Singh was partaking in a Tulabhara ceremony. In the ceremony, as per tradition, a person is weighed against a commodity, (gold, sweets etc.). The equivalent weight of the commodity, is then offered as a donation.
Dr. Ritu Singh was hit on her head by the metal hook, and sustained a severe injury. Blood pooled out of her head from where the injury occurred. She was reportedly taken to the hospital following the incident. Currently, her condition is being told to be okay.
