Wrestler Vinesh Phogat on Saturday joined the farmers protest 2.0 at the Khanauri Border and appealed to the Modi government to fulfill their promises. Vinesh Phogat was honoured by the farmers at the protest site. Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from the Paris Olympics 2024 for being overweight. The wrestler attended a program that was organized on behalf of the farmers on completion of 200 days of the movement. After this Vinesh Phogat will join the ongoing farmer movement at Khanauri border.
During the event, Vinesh Phogat said, "It has been 200 days since they are sitting here. It is painful to see this. All of them are citizens of this country. Farmers run the country. Nothing is possible without them, not even athletes - if they don't feed us, we won't be able to compete. Many a time we are helpless and can't do anything, we represent the country at such big levels but we can't do anything for our family even when we see them sad. I urge the Government that they should listen. They had admitted their mistake last time, they should fulfill the promises that they made. The country won't progress, if people sit on streets like this.."
On the question of being given a ticket by the Congress, for Haryana assembly elections, Vinesh said "I do not know politics. I do not have that much knowledge of politics. I am telling the truth, I have never gone so deep. If you ask about sports, I can tell, but there are farmers everywhere. If they are angry, it also affects the players."
For the unversed, there are talks that wrestler Vinesh will contest the Haryana Elections 2024 from the Charkhi Dadri or Julana seat on a Congress ticket.
