Coldplay Concert Ticket Scam, BookMyShow Ticket Scam: Coldplay India Concerts is among the most awaited events in the upcoming months with millions of Indians eagerly waiting to get once in a lifetime experience. Coldplay India Concert Ticket Sale is done and dusted but BookMyShow has come under the scanner of not only social media but also a lawyer who has filed complaint against the ticket booking website. BookMyShow has been accused of malpractice while selling Coldplay Concert Tickets. Lawyer Amit Vyas, the Founder Partner of Vertices Partners has initiated legal action against BookMyShow and has already filed a complaint with the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) under 'Coldplay Concert Ticketing Scam'.
What is Coldplay Concert Ticketing Scam?
Amit Vyas, the lawyer and founder of Vertices Partners, in his complaint, alleged that BookMyShow allegedly manipulated access to Coldplay Concert ticket sales, either by blocking users or logging them out, which allowed bots and black-market operators to seize control. Vyas noted that tickets marked as sold out on BookMyShow later appeared on resale sites like Viagogo at inflated prices, sometimes 30 to 50 times the original value. Vyas claims these actions violate consumer rights and various provisions of Indian criminal Law, prompting the EOW to investigate.
Vyas plans to file a First Information Report (FIR) under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, including organized crime, cheating, and criminal conspiracy. He also intends to submit a public interest litigation (PIL) to the Bombay High Court to establish stricter regulatory guidelines for large-scale events to prevent future fraud.
BookMyShow reacts to alleged Coldplay Concert Ticket Scam
Reacting to this, BookMyShow denied any involvement with unauthorized ticket-selling platforms like Viagogo and Gigsberg. BookMyShow further condemned ticket scalping, stating it is illegal in India, and confirmed that they have filed a complaint with the police to support the investigation. Not only this, but BookMyShow has also cautioned fans to avoid scams, emphasizing that BookMyShow is the only official platform for ticket sales and warning against purchasing tickets from unauthorized sources, which may result in receiving fake tickets.
Coldplay has announced the concert dates on their official Instagram page. The concert is scheduled to happen in the next year. The Coldplay band will do 3-day concerts in Mumbai. The concert will happen on the 18th, 19th, and 21st of January 2025 in the DY Patil Sports Stadium.
