Punjab farmers will march to Delhi on foot from Shambhu and Khanauri border on 6 December. Ahead of the farmers' march to Delhi, the Haryana government has come on alert. The 'Dilli Chalo' march i.e. 'march to Delhi' has been called by the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) and Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM, non-political).
The farmers organizations have announced their plans to march on foot towards Delhi starting December 6. The 235-km march will begin from the Shambhu border in the Rajpura constituency of the Patiala district in Punjab. According to KMM and SKM (non-political) leaders, groups led by senior leaders will walk daily from 9 am to 5 pm.
Will the Shambhu Border Open?
As per Dainik Bhasker report, farmers will be allowed entry into Haryana only when they show permission to march to Delhi. They have to tell where they will protest in Delhi. Farmers will also have to give in writing that they will not hold permanent dharna during the night halt. To discuss all these points, Haryana Police has called a meeting with the farmers sitting on the Shambhu and Khanauri border. This meeting will be held in Ambala at 4:30 pm on Monday (today).
If the farmers and police agree, they will be allowed to use the routes of Haryana to go to Delhi. Since the farmers are not allowed to take tractors or other customised vehicles to Delhi, the protestors have decided to march to Delhi on foot.
Police have increased patrolling on the Khanauri and Shambhu border of Haryana-Punjab. Special duty of police personnel has been imposed to keep a 24-hour watch on the borders. Strict instructions have been given to the employees on duty that intensive checking of every vehicle coming from Punjab should be done. Also, entry of tractors should be completely banned.
The police of the districts falling on GT Road including Ambala and the districts adjoining Delhi have been put on alert mode. Additional police will be deployed in these districts regarding the march of farmers to Delhi.
Haryana Routes Diversion amid 'Dilli Chalo'
Traffic is being affected due to checking on the borders going to Delhi including Haryana's expressway. In case of increasing traffic pressure, the police have implemented the route diversion plan. The police has appealed to the people to use alternative routes and metro. The arrival of all types of cargo vehicles will be banned on the route going to Delhi from Yamuna Expressway via Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and from Sirsa to Surajpur via Pari Chowk.
What did farmer leader Pandher say on the 'Dilli Chalo' march?
Farmer leader Sarwan Pandher reportedly said that the Haryana government is taking a U-turn regarding the farmers' march to Delhi. Many BJP spokespersons are saying that they should sit on the table. The Center has broken the talks since February 18. Our doors are open for talks.
On the other hand, Haryana CM Naib Saini said that dharna is held in Punjab. Dharna is held where the Congress government is not giving MSP. We are giving MSP. Congress had spread the lie of MSP being stopped but PM Narendra Modi has responded to it by increasing MSP.
Pandherin in his statement further said, '..we said on December 1 that our group will cross the border on foot carrying all the things. We will go to Delhi from Punjab via Haryana. Whatever our needs are, we have left it to the people of Haryana. We expect full help from them.'
'Modi government is responsible for the damage caused by barricading'
Pandher further said, "Say straight that you have run away. Now you will not let us go to Delhi at any cost. The Modi government has run away. The Modi government is responsible for the losses that have been caused to the economy of Punjab and Haryana, traders, transporters, and the general public by barricading the Shambhu border in 10 months. The hunger strike by farmer leader Jagjit Dallewal has entered the 7th day."
