Online food delivery platform Zomato announced Akriti Chopra's resignation in their latest filing in the Bombay Stock Exchange on Friday, September 27, 2024. Zomato in their statement reportedly said, "We would like to inform that Ms. Akriti Chopra, CoFounder & Chief People Officer designated as Senior Management Personnel (“SMP”), has tendered her resignation w.e.f. Who is Akriti Chopra?
Akriti Chopra is a Gurugram-based entrepreneur who joined Zomato in the year 2011 as an employee. After working 13 long years for Zomato, Akriti Chopra parted ways with Deepinder Goyal's online food delivery company. Talking about Akriti Chopra's educational qualification, Akriti Chopra completed her B.Com from Lady Shri Ram College for Women in 2008. Thereafter, Akriti Chopra completed her Chartered Accountant Course from The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India in 2011.
From 2008 to 2011, Akriti worked at PwC as Articled Assistant. Thereafter, she joined Zomato as CFO. In an earlier statement, Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal had said that Akriti was with the company for a decade before she was elevated. She had also been the strongest pillar of support for the company. Under her, an impeccable financial team came about.
It is pertinent to mention here that before Akriti, another Zomato co-founder and its then chief technology officer Gunjan Patidar resigned last January after over a decade stint in the company. Before that in November 2022, another co-founder Mohit Gupta had resigned. Gupta was elevated to co-founder level in 2020 from the position of CEO of its food delivery business.
Notably, Akriti joined Zomato in 2011 as Senior Manager of finance & Operations. She was promoted as VP, Finance and Operations in 2012. In 2020, she became the CFO. In 2021, she was elevated as the chief people officer and co-founder.
