Who was Mike Lynch?
Mike Lynch was born on June 16, 1965, in Llford, and grew up near Chelmsford in Essex. His mother was a nurse from County Tipperary and his dad worked as a firefighter from County Cork in Ireland.
Mike Lynch set up his first company, Lynett Systems Ltd. in the 1980s. Mike Lynch is the co-founder of Autonomy Corporation and the founder of Invoke Capital. He is also a co-founder of the cyber security company Darktrace. He also had various other roles in the tech world including advisory jobs.
He had involvement in several large businesses such as Cambridge Neurodynamics, Autonomy, and Invoke Capital.
Mike has won several awards across his career, including being given an OBE for services to enterprise in the 2006 New Year Honours. In June 2008, he was elected a fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and in 2011, he was named as the most influential person in UK IT by Computer Weekly. He was elected a fellow of the Royal Society in 2014 as well as being made a Deputy Lieutenant of the country of Suffolk the same year.
Mike Lynch was celebrating being acquitted of fraud by a jury in the US early weeks at a Bayesian superyacht. Mike Lynch died after the superyacht sank at the coast of Sicily.
