In what came as a shock for the entire world, Slovakia Prime Minister Robert Fico on Wednesday was shot at least 5 times by a 71-year-old man. Slovakia PM Robert Fico was shot when he was trying to meet people gathered in front of a cultural community centre in Handlova, about 180km (112 miles) from the capital Bratislava. As per Robert Fico attack video, after the Slovakian PM was shot point blank his security rushed in and with the help of the locals present the attacker was wrestled down and later arrested. After being shot, Slovakia PM Robert Fico was airlifted to a hospital for an emergency surgery. Robert Fico's assassination attempt is said to be politically motivated and world leaders including Indian Prime Ministrer Modi has condemned the attack. Earlier on Wednesday evening Defence Minister Robert Kalinak said Mr Fico had been in surgery for over three hours and that the situation was "bad". The attacker has been identified as Juraj Cintula. Who is the Slovakian PM attacker or who is Juraj Cintula?
As per Slovakia's local media reports, the gunman Juraj Cintula hails from Southern Slovakia. In 2005, Juraj Cintula Co-founded a literary clun and ran the company till 2016. Juraj Cintula also published poem that makes him a poet by profession. Juraj Cintula reportedly wrote at least three poems under his name. He is also a member of the Slovak Writers' Association. According to a local newspaper “Dennik N”, Juraj Cintula used a legally registered short-barreled weapon to carry out the attack on Slovakia PM Robert Fico.
Talking about cause of attack on Slovakia PM Robert Fico, Juraj Cintula has been quoted by the local media saying that he disagreed with the PM's policies.
Robert Fico's health update
As per reports, Robert Fico continues to battle for his life in hospital. However, it is expected that Slovakia's PM will survive the deadly attack on him. As per Slovakia's Deputy Prime Minister Tomas Taraba, Fico is expected to survive his injuries. It comes after the PM went through a reported three hours of urgent surgery after his injuries were labelled as "extraordinarily serious" when he entered hospital. Taraba was quoted saying, "Fortunately as far as I know the operation went well - and I guess in the end he will survive. He's not in a life threatening situation at this moment."
