However, due to unrest in Kashmir following Burah Wani's killing, Zooni was suspended and transferred back to Delhi. There, Zooni was picked up by the PMO to lead a team in the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Jammu & Kashmir. Zooni was given a free hand to carry out her investigation in Jammu & Kashmir.
