Coming-of-age cricketer & Sachin Tendulkar's son Arjun Tendulkar is yet to become a breakout star like his father. Arjun Tendulkar who enjoys a good height and even better physical strength than his father Sachin Tendulkar has not been able to impress the world either by his bowling or batting in the Indian Premier League. Although, indeed, Arjun Tendulkar has not got enough chances for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL, the cricketer on his limited appearances has not been able to cash in as well.
In 2022, Arjun Tendulkar moved to Chandigarh to train under none other than Yuvraj Singh's father Yograj Singh. Yograj Singh is infamous for his too-strict style of coaching. Former cricketer Yuvraj Singh multiple times has expressed that he cannot relate to the type of coaching he received from his father, especially in today's time. Still, Arjun Tendulkar despite many stories of Yograj Singh being too strict joined his camp and started training under his coaching.
However, Arjun is now no longer associated with Yograj Singh. Yograj Singh recently in an interview with Unfiltered with Samdish spilled the beans why Arjun Tendulkar quit from his camp and left his coaching. Below is an excerpt from the interview-
Why did Arjun Tendulkar leave Yograj Singh's coaching?
Yograj Singh said, "Sachin's son. He comes here for 12 days and scores a hundred. When he scored a hundred on debut and then came back to IPL, people feared that his (Arjun) name will get stuck with him (Yograj). Are you understanding my point?"
“People are very afraid of name-sticking. I told Yuvi (Yuvraj) to call Sachin and ask him to give me Arjun for a year. See what happens after that,” added Yograj Singh.
It is pertinent to mention here that Arjun Tendulkar started training under Yograj Singh in 2022. The southpaw went on to make his IPL debut the very next year.
Talking about IPL 2025, Arjun was once again picked up by Mumbai Indians (MI) during the mega auction at his base price of Rs 30 Lakh. The 25-year-old allrounder is all set to feature in Mumbai’s squad for the fourth straight season.
