Admirers of celestial events, get ready to witness a rare & once in a lifetime event. The rarest celestial event of this year is going to be happen on 19th August 2024 i.e. today. The rare combination of blue moon and supermoon will grace the skies today. This event has been coincided with Rakshabandhan on 19th August in India. This blue moon will be visible in skies in many parts of world according to different time zones. It will visible in India on from August 19 Monday to August 20 Tuesday. 

According to NASA, this full moon will remain in its peak phase till Wednesday, offering three days of beautiful lunar visibility. This is going to be unique combination of blue moon and supermoon resulting it in a very rare and extraordinary celestial event. 

As per astrology, the moon signifies a great link to emotions and intuitions. 19th August is full moon, these aspects intensifies on full moon and the super blue moon amplifies these effects. This introduces a new element of unpredictability which opens up new possibilities.

The term Supermoon was coined by Astrologer Richard Nolle in 1979. A super moon occurs when a full moon or new moon coincides with the moon's closest approach to earth, known as perigee. 

In addition, the 19th August’s full moon is also a “blue moon”. The term blue moon is historically referred to the third full moon in a season that has four full moons, though this moon won't appear blue. According to NASA, On rare occasions, tiny particles in the aur such as dust or smoke etc. scatter the red wavelength of light and make the moon appear blue. In 1940’s, however, the second full moon in a single calander month is also described as blue moon. 

The combination of these two is an exceptional event, which roughly occurs for once in approximately 10 years on an average. The next super blue moons are expected to be occur on 2037. 

The Supermoon Bluemoon can be watched in India from the night of August 19 to the early morning of August 20.
