A young woman devotee and caretaker of a temple was brutally murdered with sharp edged weapons by another devotee in a drunk condition in the temple of village Sidhwan Dona near Kapurthala on Monday night.

 

Sadar police station SHO Sonamdeep Kaur confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Sarita Devi (26) resident of village Sidhwan Dona and said accused allegedly murdered the deceased as she often objected his entry in the temple while he was drunk.

 

In a complaint lodged with the police, the deceased’s husband Rakesh Kumar said that his wife had been the main caretaker of the temple for many years and had often objected to the entry of accused in the temple while he was inebriated.

 

Police said the deceased was attacked with sharp edged weapons by the accused when she objected to his entry in the temple in an inebriated condition and fled the scene after the murder.

 

Police has taken the body in its custody for post mortem and has begun an investigation.

 

Police has registered a murder case.
