On Thursday, the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI), told Delhi High Court that the former cricketer and Bhartiya Janta Party Member of Parliament Gautam Gambhir’s foundation is guilty of hoarding Fabiflu – a drug prescribed to patients with mild Covid-19 symptoms.

This news has led to a storm on social media and now netizens are demanding the arrest of the former cricketer Gautam Gambhir.

In response, Gautam Gambhir tweeted, “I am a man and all that affects mankind concerns me – Sardar Bhagat Singh”.

The incident took place back on April 21, 2021, when the country was in the midst of the second wave of coronavirus and people were dying because of the shortage of medical aid, medical oxygen, medicines, and vaccines. During that time Fabiflu was a must-needed drug. Amid such time Gautam Gambhir tweeted, “People of East Delhi can get ‘Fabiflu’ from MP office for FREE between 10-5. Kindly get an Aadhar card and prescription.”

After this, Gautam landed in a trouble and the very next day, Leher Sethi filed an FIR against the former cricket accusing him of hoarding the drugs.

His tweet read, “I have filed a complaint against Gautam Gambhir for hoarding Fabiflu at a time when Delhi Residents are scrambling for it!

This is deeply concerning also because Pharmacies and chemists provide medication to patients 24/7 while Mr Gambhir is only making it available from 10 am-5 pm.”

On May 7, the Delhi High Court ordered the police to conduct a probe into the hoarding of oxygen cylinders and medicines.
